UFC 285 needs a main event for March 5th, and they are targeting a bantamweight title fight between champion Aljamain Sterling, and former champ Henry Cejudo. Cejudo never lost the belt, he beat Dominick Cruz in May of 2020 to defend it and then retired. Which in MMA means you're taking a break. And it'll be almost a 3 year break by the time March 5th arrives, so it will be interesting to see if there is any ring rust; because Cejudo was firing on all cylinders before taking a break and seemed to be in his MMA prime at that point. For Sterling though he really started to hit his stride after Cejudo left, he has fought 4times against the top competition in the division while Cejudo has been inactive in the cage, although he's been active in the gym; but most fighters would agree it's hard totally replicate the real experience of fighting in training.
