In the UFC Long Island main event, Brian Ortega took on Yair Rodriguez in a classic grappler vs striker affair - unfortunately during the very first round of the bout, Ortega suffered a shoulder injury, as a result Ortega could not continue and the bout was determined as a TKO victory in favour of 'El Pantera'.
After the bout Ortega was not only disappointed in himself, Brian also felt he had let down Rodriguez's family by not allowing Yair the opportunity to perform - with this, Ortega approached apologized to Rodriguez's family backstage telling them "I'm sorry this happened".
